Starting as a data analyst

Data analysis has one of the more approachable entry routes. Employers mainly look for SQL, a spreadsheet tool, a visualisation tool and the ability to explain what the numbers mean to someone who is not technical.

The difference between a good and an average candidate is communication. A dashboard that answers a business question clearly, with a short written summary, impresses more than a complex chart nobody understands.
