Research Scientist, Life Sciences (experimental Biology)

About the Role We are seeking an exceptional Research Scientist to join Anthropic’s Life Sciences team, a founding member role at the intersection of computational and experimental biology. Responsibilities Design, execute, and iterate on experimental programs: molecular biology, biochemistry, protein and nucleic acid characterization, high‑throughput functional screens, assay development. Partner with computational biologists to design experiments and generate analysis‑ready data. Use Claude and internal agent frameworks for experimental planning, protocol development, and data interpretation. Generate and prioritize hypotheses combining experimental judgment, literature, biological knowledge bases, and computational predictions. Requirements Ph.D. in a biological science (molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, computational biology) or related field. Track record of bridging biological knowledge with computational approaches. Basic proficiency in Python and familiarity with ML development practices. Familiarity with modern machine learning techniques, model training, biological databases (UniProt, GenBank, PDB) and computational biology tools.
