Mercury is a fintech company that provides banking services and financial workflows for startups. The Ongoing Due Diligence team is currently seeking a KYC Investigator to manage the lifecycle of existing customer accounts. In this role, you will conduct regular KYC refreshes and enhanced due diligence reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing account data, documenting the rationale for maintaining or exiting customer relationships, and identifying trends to optimize review processes. You will also act as a point of escalation for BPO partners, requiring clear communication and the ability to manage a high-volume, queue-based workload. This position is well-suited for candidates with a professional background in risk, banking, compliance, AML, or fraud detection. Successful applicants will demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment. You must be comfortable balancing efficiency with rigorous quality standards to mitigate risk while supporting the company's customer base.
Mercury is the fintech startups use for banking* and all their financial workflows. This turns out to be a pretty wild endeavor, so we’re looking to bring someone smart onto our Ongoing Due Diligence (ODD) team to help us out. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced individual with a background in either risk, banking, compliance, AML, fraud or regulatory to assist our ODD team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting thorough reviews of existing accounts to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and providing support for our BPO partners. *Mercury is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC. As part of the journey, we would expect you to: Conduct KYC Refresh and/or Enhanced Due Diligence Reviews as needed Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary volumes through trends and themes associated to reviews conducted Support our BPO partners with escalations tied to various review types tied to CIP, CDD & EDD Communicate effectively with various stakeholders and customers After account review, document rationale to maintain or exit decisions on customer accounts Identify and escalate any potential issues or concerns to management Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all reviews conducted Some things that might make you successful in a role like this: Have a strong understanding of regulatory requirements Be a highly motivated self-starter, comfortable working within a fast paced environment Work efficiently and independently, but know when to ask for help Enjoy and have experience working autonomously in a queue based role, understanding how to prioritize your work and keep an organized, clean inbox and queue Place an emphasis on quality - paying very close attention to detail to keep bad actors out and ensure we’re letting good customers in Have great critical thinking skills and enjoy problem solving Have great written communication skills Mercury values diversity & belonging and is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer. Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry. New hire offers are made based on a candidate’s experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers. Our target new hire base salary ranges for this role are the following : US employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $85,500 — $96,200 USD US employees outside of New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $77,000 — $86,600 USD Canadian employees (any location): $80,800 — $90,900 CAD
