Robinhood is a financial technology firm focused on making investing accessible to a broad audience. The Tokenization team is developing infrastructure that lets public and private equities be issued, custodied and settled on decentralized exchanges, linking on‑chain activity with traditional brokerage and ledger systems. As a Senior Software Engineer you will design, build and operate backend services that mint and settle tokenized equities across multiple blockchains, ensuring correctness, auditability and 24/7 availability. The role involves owning end‑to‑end projects, making architectural decisions, integrating smart contracts and chain indexers, and collaborating with product, compliance, legal and platform groups to translate regulatory requirements into system designs. You will also raise technical standards through design and code reviews and mentor junior engineers. The position suits engineers with five or more years of experience delivering large‑scale distributed systems, strong backend skills in Go, Python or Java, familiarity with cloud‑native stacks such as Kafka, Postgres and Kubernetes, and a solid grasp of blockchain fundamentals or a willingness to acquire it quickly.

The Tokenization team's mission is to bring both public and private equity to be tradable 24/7 on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) across the Robinhood Chain. We work at the intersection of blockchain technology, financial market infrastructure, and modern distributed systems - with a focus on accessibility, security, and scalability. Equity markets have been closed nights and weekends for a century; we're building the infrastructure that changes that. As a Senior Software Engineer , you will design and build the core systems that issue, custody, and settle tokenized equities on-chain and keep them in sync with traditional brokerage and ledger systems. You'll lead technically complex projects end to end, make architectural decisions on a foundational Robinhood initiative, and work in a domain where correctness is non-negotiable - the systems you build move real customer assets, continuously, across multiple chains and jurisdictions. This role are based in either our Menlo Park, Toronto or New York city offices, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. What you’ll do Design, build, and operate the backend services that mint, custody, and settle tokenized equities across leading blockchains, with correctness and auditability as hard requirements Own large, technically complex projects end to end - design, implementation, rollout, and operating what you ship in a 24/7 system Build the connective tissue between traditional market infrastructure (brokerage, ledgers, corporate actions) and on-chain systems, including smart contract integrations, chain indexers, and DEX trade flows Partner with product, compliance, legal, and platform teams to turn regulatory constraints into workable system design Raise the technical bar through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on mentorship What you bring 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including a track record of delivering large-scale distributed systems in production Expertise in backend development with Go, Python, or Java, and deep familiarity with cloud-native architecture (Kafka, Postgres, Kubernetes, or equivalents) Strong instincts for correctness-critical systems - idempotency, reconciliation, and reasoning carefully about failure modes when money is at stake Demonstrated ownership of ambiguous, cross-functional projects, with the judgment to make tradeoffs and drive alignment Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction beyond your own projects Working knowledge of blockchain fundamentals - EVM, smart contracts, wallets, on-chain settlement - or a strong appetite to go deep quickly In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits. Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
