Twitch is a global live‑streaming platform that hosts communities around gaming, entertainment, music, sports and more. The Data Platform team builds and operates the infrastructure that ingests, stores, transforms and serves the massive streams of event data that power Twitch’s services and business decisions. As a Software Engineer on this team you will design and implement new capabilities for data warehouses and pipelines, improve the reliability and scalability of existing tools, and help integrate AI‑based workflow enhancements. Daily work involves writing production‑grade code in Go or Python, working with AWS services, designing APIs, data models and distributed systems, and collaborating with peers through code reviews and design discussions. The role suits candidates with a computer‑science background or equivalent engineering experience, strong fundamentals in scalability, concurrency and distributed architecture, and a willingness to contribute to open‑source projects. Familiarity with AI coding assistants, large‑scale data processing and cloud environments is a plus.

The Data Platform team develops and operates the data platform that powers data systems and decision-making. Our data pipeline receives over 200 billion events a day, and we forward live data to tens of systems as well as powering decisions at all levels of Twitch. We provide tools to store, transform, move, and understand data. As a software engineer on Data Platform, you will deliver the next generation of Twitch data technology. You will build tools which are reliable and scale. You’ll review and shape the work of your peers, and participate in a collaborative engineering team. You can work from San Francisco, CA or Seattle, WA. You Will: Develop new capabilities in our data warehouses and pipelines Improve the reliability, flexibility, and scalability of our existing tools Collaborate on our vision as we scale to our next petabyte Enhance our workflows using AI tooling You Have: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent industry experience as a Software Engineer Familiarity with scalability, concurrency, API design, data modeling, and distributed systems fundamentals Familiarity with AI coding tools Bonus Points Experience using Golang or Python Experience with distributed, highly available systems Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
