Fresher-friendly, up to 1 yrsAbout the Role Storage is critical to Anthropic’s research, development, product, and business operations. The team builds and operates exabyte‑scale, multi‑cloud storage infrastructure that supports training, CI, sandboxing, inference, warehousing, and long‑term data retention. Responsibilities Shape technical strategy and architecture for storage layers. Build relationships with users and partner teams to understand access patterns, security, usability, and business requirements. Partner with cloud providers, networking, and datacenter teams on infrastructure primitives. Translate user needs into scalable system designs and drive alignment. Make trade‑offs across durability, availability, consistency, performance, security, and cost, documenting decisions. Break large problems into milestones and lead cross‑functional teams to ship capabilities. Work across backend stacks and abstraction layers to provide consistent interfaces. Plan and lead large migrations with minimal disruption. Participate in operations: SLOs, observability, capacity planning, incident response, on‑call. Stay hands‑on in code and production. Requirements Experience designing, building, and operating large‑scale distributed storage systems (object store, distributed file system, block storage). Deep understanding of storage fundamentals: replication, erasure coding, consistency models, metadata management, durability, failure handling, high availability, access controls, identity models, security, abstraction layers, network requirements, multi‑region considerations. Proven ownership as tech lead or architect for complex infrastructure. Strong software engineering fundamentals and hands‑on coding ability in at least one systems language (C++, Rust, Go, or Java). Experience operating critical infrastructure at scale, including security, on‑call, incident response, and capacity planning.
