full-timeOrbital Analyst
Foundational · London
Foundational is a London‑based space‑tech company that operates a network of autonomous satellite laser ranging stations to generate precise distance measurements to satellites. The data are processed into orbit determination and prediction products for satellite operators, space agencies and governments. The Orbital Analyst will join the Astrodynamics team and act as the primary operational contact for the tracking network. Daily tasks include monitoring the orbit determination and prediction pipelines, identifying failures, and improving performance. The role also involves producing technical white papers and marketing material that showcase the accuracy of the laser ranging data, and working directly with customers and the business‑development team to address operational issues and special requirements. The analyst will support and supervise ground‑station tracking operations and may need to communicate complex astrodynamics concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. The position suits candidates with hands‑on experience in spacecraft tracking data, orbit determination or prediction, strong Python programming skills for analysis tooling, and the ability to engage with customers in a technical support capacity.
Orbital Analyst About us Foundational is building the most precise picture of Earth and orbit, using lasers fired from the ground. We call it ground truth for orbit. We design and run low-cost, autonomous satellite laser ranging stations. They measure the distance to satellites with extreme precision, day and night. Our data platform turns those measurements into tracking data and orbit products for satellite operators, space agencies and governments. We also build our own flight-proven laser retroreflector arrays, so any satellite can be tracked. Our station network is expanding across Europe, South America, Africa and Australia. The data supports resilient navigation, Earth observation and the safe, sustainable use of space. We're a small, fast-moving team of engineers, scientists and operators in London. We're backed by venture investors and supported by ESA, the UK Space Agency, Innovate UK and the European Innovation Council.
