As a Senior Security Operations Engineer, you will serve as a core member of the security team, responsible for monitoring security events and providing technical analysis on alerts. The role involves acting as an Incident Commander to lead information security incidents and digital forensic investigations, requiring close collaboration with legal, compliance, and employee relations departments. Beyond incident response, you will be expected to develop automated workflows, maintain technical runbooks, and build tools using Python to support the company's security infrastructure. This position is suited for experienced security professionals who possess at least five years of incident response experience and have the ability to communicate complex investigative strategies to both technical staff and executive leadership. Candidates should be comfortable mentoring junior team members and driving process improvements within a high-growth, remote-first environment.

5-5 years experienceAbout the Role As a member of the Security Operations Team, you will collaborate with a global team of engineers to monitor and respond to security events, lead security incidents as Incident Commander, and lead digital forensic investigations supporting Employee Relations, Legal, Compliance, or Information Security cases. You will also create and maintain runbooks, automated workflows, and assist in process refinement. Responsibilities Monitor security events and provide technical analysis on alerts. Lead information security incidents and employee investigations, developing response strategy and executing through closure while updating stakeholders. Deliver security guidance for incident response and insider threat initiatives. Coordinate building of services, capabilities, integrations, and implementations of technologies to support security operations, incident response, and insider threat. Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles. Requirements 5+ years of experience in Security Incident Response. Ability to communicate investigative findings and strategies to technical staff, executive leadership, and legal. Ability to build scripts or tools to support investigations, with proficiency in Python. Mentor and train security operation staff. Eligibility Open to candidates residing in the US in the Pacific Time Zone.
