Software Engineer

Axle Careers · London

Axle Energy is a technology company focused on building infrastructure to support a decarbonized energy system. The company develops software that optimizes electricity usage by controlling distributed energy assets such as vehicle chargers, heating systems, and home batteries. As a Software Engineer, you will work in a generalist capacity, covering product engineering, DevOps, and data engineering tasks. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve building the core infrastructure required to connect to and orchestrate these energy devices, allowing them to participate in electricity markets. You will be expected to take end-to-end ownership of projects, which includes engaging with clients and market operators to understand business requirements. The role is well-suited for engineers who thrive in a flat organizational structure, value autonomy, and are comfortable working across the full stack using Python, React, Docker, and Google Cloud Platform. Candidates should be comfortable with rapid iteration and possess a strong interest in applying software solutions to the challenges of the energy transition.

Our software moves energy usage to times when electricity is cheap and green, by controlling vehicle charging, heating systems, and home batteries. We control hundreds of thousands of energy assets. We’re building in a legacy industry and moving gigawatt-hours of electrons in the real world, but we operate at lightning speed, and we’re growing the team to meet customer demand.
