About the Role GitLab is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the globally distributed Observability team within Production Engineering. The team builds and operates metrics, logging, alerting, and capacity planning platforms used by GitLab engineers. Responsibilities Lead, hire, onboard, and develop a distributed engineering team working asynchronously. Set priorities with Site Reliability Engineering, Product Engineering, and GitLab Dedicated teams. Participate in Incident Manager On Call rotation and improve on‑call sustainability. Use AI tools to support engineering workflows and incident triage. Requirements Experience leading an observability, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering team at scale. Technical knowledge of Prometheus, long‑term storage, Elasticsearch or cloud‑native logging services, and alerting design. Experience using SLOs, error budgets, and capacity forecasts for reliability decisions. Proven ability to operate large SaaS platforms and investigate production issues such as telemetry gaps and ingestion limits.
