Product Change Control Engineer About LPSD The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) is part of Caterpillar’s Power & Energy segment. Through this global organization, Caterpillar designs and manufactures large (greater than 18 liters) diesel and natural gas engines, powertrains and key engine systems. LPSD products and solutions support customers across power generation, industrial, marine, oil & gas, rail, services and Cat® machine applications worldwide. LPSD teams work across regions and function to deliver safe, reliable and compliant solutions that help solve our customers’ toughest challenges. About LEC (Lafayette Engine Center) The Lafayette Engine Center (LEC) manufactures the Cat 3500, Cat 3600 and C175 engines helping Caterpillar become the world’s leading manufacturer of off-highway diesel and natural gas engines. The units built at LEC power mining trucks carrying ore to be processed, tugboats guiding ships to harbor, drill rigs tapping oil and gas reserves and generators bringing electricity to communities, hospitals and data centers. Job Summary: The Product Change Control Engineer coordinates engineering releasing activities between engineering design areas and procurement/scheduling with effective and timely implementation. What you will do: Creating, maintaining, and communicating accurate change management data at both the local and corporate level through data entry in multiple management information systems. Analyzing engineering releases, changes, drawing notices to create change management requirements, providing the creation of product structure based on engineering design. Maintaining close team relationships with releasing analysts, as well as teams in manufacturing operations, process planning, engineering design, and material planning. Level Working Knowledge: • Accurately gauges the impact and cost of errors, omissions, and oversights. • Utilizes specific approaches and tools for checking and cross-checking outputs. • Processes limited amounts of detailed information with good accuracy. • Learns from mistakes and applies lessons learned. • Develops and uses checklists to ensure that information goes out error-free. Cross-Team Integration: Understanding of the importance of inter-team collaboration in breaking down silos and achieving business results; ability to lead employees from various functions to communicate, coordinate work across divisions, and collaborate in solving problems as one team. Level Basic Understanding: • Identifies the key teams or work groups whose work is closely related. • Applies the concept of collaboration to build relationships and coordinate with other teams. • Demonstrates the ability to coordinate work so that it can help more than one team. • Seeks help to secure support from another team when necessary. Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Level Basic Understanding: • Explains characteristics and steps in an effective decision-making process. • Identifies issues and communicates with others when a decision needs to be made. • Names decision makers in own environment and cites examples of past decisions. • Describes types of decisions incumbent may and may not make in own job or function. Manufacturing Application Systems: Knowledge of company and industry databases and applications used in a manufacturing environment; ability to operate, maintain and update these systems. Level Basic Understanding: • Explains general flow of information throughout the manufacturing process and the supply chain. • Identifies major types of applications and information systems used in manufacturing. • Identifies core company, proprietary and public information sources. • Describes the type of information maintained in manufacturing application systems and identifies its primary uses and users.
