Cloudflare operates one of the world’s largest internet networks, routing traffic for sites ranging from personal blogs to Fortune‑500 enterprises and providing performance acceleration and security without requiring hardware changes. The Researcher – Web Security, Detection internship sits in the Detection department, where engineers build large‑scale systems that spot automated, fraudulent and malicious activity. Interns will spend time reverse‑engineering bot tools, automation frameworks and fraud kits to understand attacker techniques, then translate that intelligence into detection signals, heuristics or signatures. They will probe existing defenses, design mitigations that preserve detection value, and automate manual analyst workflows using Python or JavaScript. The role suits candidates who are comfortable with HTTP, TLS, browser internals and CAPTCHAs, enjoy ethical hacking and have a strong curiosity about how web attacks evolve. Strong coding discipline, clear communication and a willingness to collaborate with data scientists and engineers are essential.
