In the Senior Data Scientist – Applied ML role, you would partner with product and engineering leaders to identify and scope machine‑learning use‑cases in areas such as risk, insurance, and payments. Day‑to‑day work includes querying structured and unstructured data with SQL, prototyping and evaluating solutions that span classical statistics, traditional ML, deep learning, and large language models, and applying AI‑assisted techniques to accelerate analysis and model development. You would collaborate with machine‑learning engineers to deploy models into production, build monitoring systems, and contribute to MLOps tooling and reusable frameworks. The role also involves technical code reviews, mentoring teammates, and helping product partners adopt a more data‑informed mindset. This position suits a data scientist who has experience managing the full ML lifecycle, is comfortable working with SQL and a variety of ML techniques, enjoys cross‑functional collaboration, and is interested in mentoring and influencing broader data‑science practices within the organization.

Department Technology, Data & Analytics Team Who You Are You’re a data scientist with experience in building and deploying machine learning solutions for complex, and sometimes ambiguous, business problems. You have worked end-to-end on the ML model lifecycle, from early data discovery and analysis to deploying and maintaining models in production. You believe that the best data science work accelerates learning, improves decision making, and ultimately drives measurable impact for customers and the business. Justworks is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our ML group within the Data & Analytics team. You'll primarily partner with Product and Engineering to identify and frame domain-specific use-cases as data science problems, prototype and evaluate the appropriate technical solutions, and work with our Machine Learning Engineers to deploy them into production and maintain them. Your Success Profile What You Will Work On Lead end-to-end machine learning and data science projects: Partner with product and engineering leaders to identify and scope new data science use-cases within their domains such as Risk & Insurance and Payments Utilize SQL to query both structured and unstructured datasets relevant to the problems Prototype, evaluate, and deploy technical solutions including classical ML, statistical techniques, algorithms, deep learning, and LLMs Develop and apply AI-assisted approaches to analysis, model exploration, and deployment to multiply your impact and expand the reach of data science across the organization Help implement and curate strategic assets for the team such as data assets, generalized code and tooling, and reusable frameworks Support technical and code reviews on the team Build model monitors and systematic methods of obtaining consumer feedback from models post-deployment Collaborate with our MLE team to inform the model deployment infrastructure and MLOps tooling roadmap Perform other related responsibilities as needed based on department and/or organizational needs.
