The Software Dev Engineer II, Fintech Tax role focuses on building and maintaining the tax calculation systems that underpin billions of dollars of transactions across Amazon's worldwide lines of business. Day-to-day work includes designing new features, writing clean, testable code in one or more programming languages, conducting code reviews, and ensuring reliability and scalability of services. The engineer follows the full software development life cycle — from requirements and architecture through build, testing, deployment and operations — while collaborating with product, tax and finance teams to meet regulatory requirements. Candidates should have at least three years of professional software development experience, two years of system design or architecture work, three years of experience in the video-games industry (development, release or live ops), and a bachelor's degree in computer science or an equivalent field. Strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with coding standards, source control and testing practices are expected.
