The Software Engineer II role on the Integrations team in Lisbon focuses on building and maintaining the services that connect PagerDuty to customers everyday tools. Day-to-day work includes designing, coding, testing and deploying backend microservices, APIs, webhooks and front-end interfaces, collaborating with engineers across the company, and participating in an on-call rotation to triage production issues. The engineer will also help shape how AI coding tools are used in daily engineering practices and promote engineering excellence throughout design, development, test and release cycles. The position suits candidates with at least four years of experience developing large, scalable systems, proficiency in a modern language such as Java, Ruby or Elixir, familiarity with cloud platforms (especially AWS), third-party API and OAuth integrations, SaaS applications like Jira or Salesforce, and distributed, highly available architectures. A willingness to learn new technologies and adapt quickly is essential.

PagerDuty is seeking a Software Engineer to join our diverse and customer-focused team! You'll be working on our strategic integrations, which connect PagerDuty to the many tools our customers rely on. The work spans a wide range of technologies, including APIs, webhooks, OAuth, and SaaS platforms across multiple languages, and you'll help advance how we use AI as a core part of day-to-day engineering. Why we need you The PagerDuty Integrations Team is looking for a software engineer who's eager to learn new technologies. Our integrations connect PagerDuty to the wider set of tools our customers use every day, spanning many languages, platforms, and protocols. You'll help create the foundation for these systems by building highly available services, scalable databases, and secure APIs. You'll also help promote engineering excellence across our design, development, test, and release cycles, with AI as a core part of how you work. Key Responsibilities From day one, you'll be designing, coding, testing and shipping backend applications and microservices, APIs, webhooks, and front-end interfaces that ensure we deliver reliable, scalable integrations to our customers. You'll collaborate closely with engineers across teams. With 20,000+ global customers and growing, you'll be solving really interesting technical challenges while helping to scale our product to keep up with demand. You will be participating in your team's on-call rotation, triaging and addressing production issues as they arise. Basic Qualifications Minimum of 4 years of experience designing, building, and operating large systems with scalability, availability, and performance requirements. Development experience building and operating customer-facing, web-based products. Demonstrated experience with at least one modern programming language (e.g. Java, Ruby, or Elixir) and with AI coding tools. A demonstrated eagerness to learn new technologies and pick up unfamiliar languages and platforms quickly. Preferred Qualifications You have operational experience in cloud technologies such as AWS You're comfortable moving between multiple languages and tech stacks You have experience integrating with third-party APIs, webhooks, or OAuth-based authentication You have experience with SaaS platforms such as Jira, Salesforce or ServiceNow You have operational experience with databases & tools (e.g. MySQL, Aurora, Kafka, NoSQL, applying software engineering principles to data problems, etc.) Experience building user-facing public APIs You've had experience designing & implementing distributed and highly available systems Hesitant to apply?
