full-timeSoftware Engineer, Data Model
Roblox · San Mateo, CA, United States
Roblox operates a platform where tens of millions of users create, play, and interact in user‑generated 3D experiences, providing the tools and infrastructure that let developers bring any imagined world to life. The Software Engineer, Data Model position sits on the Game Engine Data Model team, which maintains the core object hierarchy that underpins the engine’s scene graph and connects systems such as networking, scripting, rendering, and physics. Day‑to‑day work involves writing and optimizing C++ code for the data model, designing new features, building automated tests, and collaborating with other engine teams to ensure functionality runs smoothly across desktop, mobile, and console devices. Engineers take ownership of features from concept through launch, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability for the vast array of games hosted on Roblox. The role suits candidates with at least two years of software engineering experience, strong C++ skills, and an interest in game engines, real‑time systems, or entity‑component‑system architectures, who are curious, collaborative, and comfortable thinking long‑term about complex technical challenges.
