Staff Data Analyst, People Analytics

Okta, a company that provides identity and access management solutions, seeks a Staff Data Analyst for its People Analytics team. In this role you will analyze data across the full employee lifecycle—hiring, onboarding, development, performance, compensation, promotion and exit—to build dashboards and reports that surface trends in hiring, attrition, engagement and organizational health. You will partner with People leaders and cross‑functional stakeholders to translate business questions into analytical work, ensure data quality, and deliver executive‑ready insights. Responsibilities include designing predictive models for attrition and workforce forecasting, applying regression, clustering, forecasting and survival analysis, and using natural‑language processing on survey and interview text to uncover themes. You will also explore generative AI prototypes for automated reporting while maintaining governance. The position calls for seven plus years of experience in people or HR analytics, strong SQL and Tableau skills, familiarity with Snowflake, Workday, ServiceNow or Greenhouse, and a quantitative bachelor’s degree. Success depends on advanced statistical expertise, clear data storytelling, and the ability to influence decisions in a fast‑paced environment.

The People Analytics Team Our People Analytics team distills insights from our data to drive informed workforce decisions across the organization. We partner with stakeholders throughout the business to transform complex people data into actionable intelligence that optimizes the employee lifecycle and supports better business outcomes. The Staff Data Analyst People Analytics Opportunity This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the design and delivery of people analytics solutions that directly impact workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and employee experience. You'll develop advanced predictive models, create scalable dashboards, and apply emerging AI technologies to solve complex workforce challenges while partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders. What you'll be doing Analyze and report on the entire employee lifecycle—from hiring and onboarding through development and exit—by designing dashboards and reports that provide insights into hiring, attrition, engagement, performance, promotions, compensation, headcount, and organizational health Partner with People Team leaders, stakeholders across the business, and data teams to translate business questions into analytical approaches, ensure data quality and governance, and deliver executive-ready insights Design, build, and maintain predictive analytics models that identify workforce trends, risks, and opportunities, including attrition prediction, workforce forecasting, employee lifecycle analysis, and talent pipeline analytics Apply advanced statistical techniques—including regression analysis, clustering, forecasting, survival analysis, and segmentation—to solve complex workforce challenges and inform strategic decision-making Analyze employee feedback from surveys, onboarding, exit interviews, and other listening channels using Natural Language Processing and text analytics to identify emerging themes and actionable insights Explore and prototype Generative AI use cases that automate narrative reporting, summarize workforce trends, and enhance decision support while maintaining governance and data privacy standards What you'll bring to the role 7+ years of experience in People Analytics, HR Analytics, Workforce Analytics, Data Science, or a related analytics discipline Advanced proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools, data warehousing platforms, spreadsheet and SQL querying, and enterprise HR platforms Having experience with our direct tech stack is highly preferred: Data visualization and reporting: Tableau Data warehousing: Snowflake Spreadsheet and querying: Excel, SQL Enterprise HR platforms: Workday, ServiceNow, Greenhouse Demonstrated expertise applying advanced statistical methods including regression, clustering, forecasting, and text analytics Excellent data visualization and storytelling skills with the ability to translate complex findings into clear business recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, influence decisions through data, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following! Strong programming skills in Python and/or R for statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and automation Familiarity with Generative AI, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and other emerging AI technologies applied to analytics Experience implementing sound data management and governance practices across large, complex datasets #LI-MC1 #P11599_3562927 The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $149,000 — $205,000 USD Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies.
