AI Research Engineer, New Phd Graduate

Duolingo builds language‑learning technology used by hundreds of millions of learners worldwide and is looking for a recent Ph.D. graduate to join its AI research team. In this role you will tackle ambitious problems by selecting appropriate methods, building prototypes, evaluating their return on investment, and scaling successful solutions into the product that serves millions of daily users. You will work closely with engineers, designers, and product managers to turn research ideas into features, and you will share results internally and with the broader research community through talks or publications. The position expects a doctorate in computer science or a related technical field (or imminent completion), a demonstrated record of impactful work such as papers, open‑source contributions, or AI internships, and the ability to relocate to either Pittsburgh, PA or New York, NY. Strong debugging, critical thinking, and an entrepreneurial, interdisciplinary mindset are essential.
