Lyft operates a transportation network company that connects riders with drivers through its platform. As a Data Scientist, you will work within a cross-functional team to frame complex business problems mathematically and translate them into actionable insights. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve performing exploratory data analysis, collaborating with software engineers to deploy algorithms into production, and designing both simulated and live traffic experiments. You will be responsible for analyzing experimental and observational data to facilitate product launch decisions and building analytical dashboards to monitor growth metrics. This role requires a strong foundation in statistics, data pipeline development, and production-level querying. It is well-suited for candidates with a Master's degree in Physics, Data Science, or a related field, along with at least two years of professional experience in data science or operations research. The position is based in San Francisco and follows a hybrid work model, requiring in-office attendance three days per week.

Responsibilities: Partner with Engineers, Product Managers, Product Designers, and Business Partners to frame problems, both mathematically and within the business context. Perform exploratory data analysis to gain a deeper understanding of the problem. Collaborate with Software Engineers to implement algorithms and analytics events in production. Design and run both simulated and live traffic experiments. Analyze experimental and observational data; communicate findings; facilitate launch decisions. Experience: Education and Experience: Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Physics, Data Science, or related field. 2 years of experience in job offered, operations research, or related occupation. Skills: Experience creating metrics, analytical dashboards, and tools to track and monitor growth. Experience with statistics, business forecast and estimates, and authoring data pipelines. Experience with writing production queries and experiment design and analysis. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
