The role is Engineering Manager for Okta Access Gateway in Toronto, leading a team building hybrid access and gateway infrastructure. Responsibilities People Leadership & Team Growth: Lead, mentor, and empower an engineering team, drive career progression, goal setting, 1:1s, and hiring. Delivery & Operational Excellence: Own end‑to‑end execution of product roadmap, establish agile delivery cadences, ensure security, high availability, and performance. Technical Strategy & Collaboration: Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and UX to define roadmaps, participate in architectural reviews, and guide modernization, containerization, and automation. Requirements Engineering Leadership: 2+ years managing software engineering teams (or 4+ years as a lead) and 8+ years total software engineering experience. Technical Background: Experience with server‑side technologies such as Java/Spring Boot, Go, or C/C++ and distributed systems concepts. Enterprise Stack: Knowledge of concurrency, caching, high throughput, asynchronous processing. Security & Networking: Understanding of TLS/SSL, reverse proxies, HTTP headers, DNS, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). Execution & Agile Rigor: Proven agile delivery, CI/CD pipelines, Scrum/Kanban. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication. Bonus Points: IAM, SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, Kerberos.
