Affirm is a fintech company that provides consumers with transparent, installment‑payment options for purchases. Its InfoSec team safeguards the firm’s systems and data, handling incident response, compliance, identity management and employee training. As a Staff Security Engineer focused on Enterprise AI, you will own the end‑to‑end security review process for internal AI and LLM‑based tools. Daily work includes threat‑modeling AI architectures, analysing data flows, reviewing source code, prompts and permission manifests, and creating test cases and red‑team scenarios. You will design and implement guardrails such as authentication/authorization controls, logging, monitoring and policy‑as‑code using Python and IaC (Terraform), and integrate them with Kubernetes and AWS environments. The role also involves evaluating third‑party AI SaaS offerings, documenting AI governance artifacts, and advising technical and executive stakeholders. The position suits a senior security engineer with hands‑on experience in AI/LLM security, enterprise security processes, Python development, cloud infrastructure and a track record of building security tooling and controls.

Responsibilities Lead and improve the AI security review process, threat model AI/LLM systems, review code and configurations, design security guardrails, build policy‑as‑code tooling, evaluate third‑party AI SaaS vendors, identify emerging AI security vulnerabilities, contribute to incident response playbooks, and advise cross‑functional stakeholders. Requirements Hands‑on experience designing and evaluating security architecture for AI/LLM systems, threat modeling, AI governance artifacts, enterprise AI visibility tools (CASB, Okta), Python programming, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Kubernetes, AWS, and familiarity with AI platforms (OpenAI, Anthropic, GitHub, Google Workspace, Slack, Notion). Eligibility Open to candidates eligible for a remote internship in the United States.
