Zscaler is a cloud security company that provides a Zero Trust Exchange platform to protect organizations from cyberattacks and data loss. As a Staff Threat Researcher, you will operate as a technical subject matter expert focused on analyzing adversary tradecraft across endpoint, cloud, and identity environments. Your daily responsibilities will involve applying formal research methodologies to dissect and replicate complex cyberattacks, determining how specific techniques function and how they can be effectively mitigated. You will translate these technical discoveries into practical attack automations, proofs of concept, and scalable detection recommendations to strengthen the company's defensive capabilities. This role requires a candidate who can navigate ambiguity, scope research initiatives independently, and bridge the gap between theoretical security research and operational defense. You will work closely with detection engineers, intelligence analysts, and threat hunters to prioritize deliverables and provide technical mentorship to colleagues. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in at least one operating system such as Windows, macOS, or Linux, as well as experience with major cloud providers like AWS, Microsoft 365, or Okta, and is comfortable presenting complex findings to both internal and external audiences.
