About the Role We are looking for a State and Local Affairs Lead to engage with state and local governments in the Western United States, advancing AI policy, legislation, and regulation. Responsibilities Serve as Anthropic's lead for state and local government affairs across many Western states. Build and maintain relationships with state legislators, governors' offices, attorneys general, and local officials. Track state and local legislation and regulatory proceedings affecting AI. Represent Anthropic at legislative hearings, regional events, and public forums. Work with Communications to develop messaging for policy campaigns. Manage outside advisors and registered lobbyists. Coordinate with policy, communications, legal, and executive teams. Requirements Align with Anthropic's mission and have experience in state and local government affairs, political strategy, or legislative work. Demonstrated track record of political strategy and execution. Strong relationship‑building, communication, and analytical skills. Eligibility Internship position; open to candidates with no prior professional experience.
