Daily responsibilities include managing on-page optimization, conducting keyword research, and analyzing how technical documentation is surfaced and cited by generative AI and agentic platforms. The specialist will collaborate with marketing, product, and community teams to translate complex technical concepts into structured content that meets specific search intent. This role is well-suited for candidates with a background in technical writing or content strategy within the SaaS or AI sectors. Ideal applicants possess hands-on experience with SEO tools like Semrush or Ahrefs, alongside a proven track record of optimizing content for a technical audience. The position requires a hybrid work arrangement, necessitating three days per week in the New York office to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
The Technical Content team is looking for an experienced Content Optimization Specialist who will help grow the visibility of Datadog across traditional search and AI-assisted search platforms. As part of the Community organization, you will optimize written and video technical content for search engines, answer engines, generative engines, and AI/LLM experiences while identifying new opportunities as audience needs and search behavior continue to evolve. You should understand how content is surfaced, cited, and summarized across traditional search, AI-assisted search, and agentic platforms. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience optimizing content that targets search demand from a highly technical audience and wants to apply their skills to the evolving AEO/GEO landscape. What You’ll Do : Translate complex technical concepts into clear, well-structured content that aligns with audience-specific search intent. Manage on-page content optimization, including metadata, structure, and internal linking Analyze how Datadog content is surfaced, cited, and summarized across AI-assisted search and agentic platforms, and use those findings to guide content optimization. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across our Community, Marketing, and Product Management teams to ensure content aligns with SEO/AEO/GEO best practices and supports key growth initiatives. Conduct keyword research and content gap analysis that inform content production and optimization. Create content briefs and outlines that turn research findings into clear requirements for content development and optimization. Monitor and report on the results of content optimization efforts, highlighting gains, losses, and opportunities across search rankings, earned citations, AI visibility, traffic, and user engagement. Who You Are : You have experience creating a high volume of technically accurate content for an engineering and developer audience. You have a portfolio of content you’ve developed in previous roles and can show how your work contributed to measurable business results. You have 3-5 years of hands-on SEO experience, with a focus on on-page content optimization. You have 1-2 years of experience optimizing content for AI-assisted search and agentic platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Codex, etc.) You are proficient with several SEO/AEO tools, such as Profound, Conductor, Semrush, Ahrefs, and Google Search Console. You have 2-5 years of experience working as a technical content writer, journalist, or content strategist at an AI or SaaS company. You stay up to date on SEO, AEO, GEO, and AI trends and know how to translate industry changes into opportunities. Datadog values people from all walks of life. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
