The legal team supports the company’s growth by providing strategic advice, protecting the firm, and handling risk matters. As a Risk Counsel, you will manage the legal response to disputes, incidents, collections and regulatory inquiries, acting as the liaison between Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operations and product groups. Responsibilities include overseeing pre‑litigation work such as demand letters and early case assessment, directing collections on delinquent commercial‑card and lending balances, handling bankruptcy claims and proof‑of‑claim filings, and leading incident‑response efforts from intake through remediation. You will also prepare responses to regulator examinations, subpoenas and other information requests, and coordinate with external counsel and collection agencies. The role suits an experienced attorney with a background in financial‑services litigation, bankruptcy, regulatory compliance and cross‑functional coordination, who can navigate complex, high‑stakes matters in a fast‑moving fintech environment.

The Legal team advises across the company, protects Brex, and handles risk. Responsibilities Manage pre‑litigation matters end to end, including demand letters, disputes, and early case assessment. Lead legal resolution of account and funds ownership disputes. Oversee collections on delinquent commercial card and lending balances. Manage bankruptcy matters, including proof of claim filings and Chapter 7/11 proceedings. Serve as legal lead on incidents, coordinating cross‑functional response and privilege. Drive remediation programs arising from incidents. Own legal review and strategy for customer outreach related to incidents. Prepare and manage responses to regulatory inquiries and examinations. Supervise responses to subpoenas and civil investigations. Requirements Experience in litigation, regulatory compliance, risk management, and bankruptcy law.
