Cloudflare operates one of the world’s largest global networks that secures and accelerates Internet traffic for a wide range of customers. The Network Engineering team is split between product development and operations, and this role sits in the product side, focusing on network automation. As a System Engineer you will design, implement, and maintain software tools that improve network resilience and reduce manual operational effort. Daily work includes writing code in Python and Go, integrating with Unix/Linux environments, managing data in MySQL/Postgres/Clickhouse, and building CI/CD pipelines and containerised services. You will also use observability platforms such as Prometheus and Grafana and leverage AI‑based assistants to streamline workflows. The position expects at least three years of experience developing network‑automation components, a solid grasp of software design patterns, and familiarity with Layer 2/Layer 3 networking and vendor equipment. Candidates who enjoy solving infrastructure problems at scale, are comfortable with modern development tooling, and can collaborate across distributed teams will find the role a good fit.
