Senior Lifecycle Marketing Manager

Gusto · Denver, CO - Hybrid; New York, NY - Hybrid; San Francisco, CA - Hybrid

Gusto provides a platform that manages payroll, health insurance, and HR services for small businesses. As a Senior Lifecycle Marketing Manager, you will focus on the accountant and bookkeeper channel, which serves as a critical indirect pathway to Gusto's end users. Your daily responsibilities involve planning, executing, and reporting on email marketing campaigns and managing the end-to-end webinar program. A central component of this role is the integration of AI-powered and agentic workflows into your marketing processes, moving beyond simple drafting to using advanced tools for segmentation, personalization, and performance reporting. You will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, including Product Marketing, Engineering, and Data Science, to drive engagement and retention. This position is well-suited for a marketing professional with over eight years of experience in CRM or lifecycle marketing who possesses strong technical proficiency in enterprise-level automation platforms. The ideal candidate is a hands-on builder who is comfortable managing complex partner communications while actively leveraging AI tools to optimize channel strategy and measurable outcomes.

About Gusto At Gusto, we're on a mission to grow the small business economy. We handle the hard stuff — payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR — so owners can focus on their craft and their customers. With teams in Denver, San Francisco, and New York, we support more than 500,000 small businesses nationwide and are building a workplace that reflects the people we serve. All full-time employees receive competitive base pay, benefits, and equity (RSUs) — because everyone who helps build Gusto should share in its success. Offer amounts are determined by role, level, and location. Learn more about our Total Rewards philosophy . AI is a fundamental part of how work gets done at Gusto. We expect all team members to actively engage with AI tools relevant to their role and grow their fluency as the technology evolves. AI experience requirements vary by role and will be assessed during the interview process. About the Role: As the Lifecycle Marketing Manager for Gusto's accountant/indirect channel, you'll own the lifecycle marketing strategy that shapes how Gusto shows up for the accountants and bookkeepers who trust us with their clients' businesses, primarily across email and webinar communications. You'll build and continuously improve the programs that bring that strategy to life, with AI-powered and agentic workflows as a core part of how you work, not an add-on to it. This is a hands-on builder's role: you'll partner closely with Product Marketing, Product, Engineering, Data Science, AI Ops, and Brand/Creative to deliver a consistent, high-quality partner experience with measurable impact on engagement, retention, and growth for the accountant channel. About the Team: The Customer Lifecycle Marketing (CLM) team owns how Gusto engages, retains, and grows its existing customer and partner relationships via email (in this role, specifically the accountants and bookkeepers who serve as Gusto's indirect channel to small businesses). The team builds and runs the email, webinar, and lifecycle programs that acquire and engage both customer and accountant audiences, working closely with Product Marketing, Analytics, and Product to translate needs into measurable engagement and retention outcomes. Here's what you'll do day-to-day: Plan, build, QA, launch, and report on email campaigns for the accountant/indirect channel using both third-party tools and Gusto's proprietary agentic email tool Own the health of the webinar program: calendar management, stakeholder collaboration, production, promotion, follow-up, and reporting Build and continuously improve AI-powered/agentic workflows for segmentation, personalization, and reporting Partner with Product Marketing, Community Marketing, Analytics, and Product to plan and prioritize the channel roadmap Analyze campaign and program performance, run tests, and bring forward recommendations on channel health Here's what we're looking for: 8+ years of experience in lifecycle, growth, CRM, or channel/partner marketing Hands-on experience with an enterprise-level marketing automation platform (Marketo or Iterable strongly preferred; other enterprise tools considered) Demonstrated experience building and directing AI-powered or agentic workflows for real marketing tasks, not just using AI as a drafting assistant Proven end-to-end ownership of email campaigns and webinar production programs Strong copyediting/copywriting skills, with the ability to adapt tone and voice across audiences Cross-functional collaboration experience across Product Marketing, Analytics, and Product teams Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience Compensation Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $134,000 - $168,000/yr in Denver, and $158,000 - $197,000/yr for San Francisco and New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above. Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale. Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas. When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required. This includes non-office days for hybrid employees. Our customers come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because it makes our company stronger. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for small businesses, you will find a home at Gusto. Gusto is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
