The Systems Engineering, Metrics And Alerting role sits on the internal Observability Team, which builds and runs the platform that provides metrics, alerting, logging, tracing and error tracking for Cloudflare’s engineering org. Day‑to‑day work includes designing, delivering and operating software that advances the observability stack, troubleshooting scaling bottlenecks in the metrics and alerting pipeline, developing highly distributed systems, participating in knowledge‑sharing sessions and mentoring, taking part in the global on‑call rotation for owned services, researching emerging technologies and contributing to open‑source projects. The position suits candidates with a software engineering background, strong Go programming skills, familiarity with TSDBs, columnar stores and distributed Linux environments, experience designing large‑scale distributed systems, and hands‑on exposure to Prometheus, Alertmanager and Thanos in a fast‑growing, high‑impact setting.
